Very Intellectual People

Who support environmental protection, clean, renewable energy & sustainable economic development for our region

Dear Friends,

Please join us for the 2008 S.E.E. Expo with a Weekend Pass for “Very Intellectual People”. Our first seven years have been an unprecedented success showcasing the projects of scores of conservation organizations, the many affordable renewable energy options presented by 'green' businesses and the bright prospects for true sustainable economics in our region. In only seven years, we’ve had over 25,000 participants, many of them Very Intellectual People who have supported the S.E.E. Expo with a $50 V.I.P. Weekend Pass.

What does a 2008 V.I.P. Weekend Pass get you?

Few of us can afford $50 without getting something tangible in return, no matter how important the reason. If you take advantage of all these options (please do!), they’re worth over $80. Each S.E.E. Expo V.I.P. Weekend Pass entitles one person to:

  • Free daily admission to all three days of the S.E.E. Expo ($30 value)
  • A free S.E.E. Expo T-shirt S, M, L, or XL, ($15 value)
  • A free tent/van camping site at the S.E.E. Expo for up to four nights ($40 value)
  • A free pass to the Friday evening “V.I.P./Exhibitors Networking Dinner” ($10 value)

And, maybe the best, you’ll get to share a weekend with like minded folks who believe we can learn to make the world a better place for our children and future generations. Click here for V.I.P. form, or simply write your name, mailing address, phone number and email address on plain paper and mail either with your check to this address:

Who are Very Intellectual People? What do they care about?

Renewable energy, environmental protection and sustainable economic planning are under continuing attack from the federal government and special interests. Critically needed national leadership—and support—for renewable energy, environmental protection and sustainable economic development is virtually nonexistent. Unfortunately, state and private funding is also shrinking in the current economic climate, as interest rates rise, the dollar falls, gas prices climb and good paying jobs are lost.

At the same time, the public’s demand’s for common sense policies to address our very real problems is growing. Fortunately, individuals, organizations and small businesses are beginning to work together on a local and regional basis, independent of big government and corporate interests, to plan for a sustainable future. The Southern Energy & Environment Expo is one of these efforts.

The government spends billions for oil and nuclear energy, but only lip service for the renewable technologies that can offer us many thousands more good-paying new jobs, while reducing environmental damage. For the cost of our war to secure foreign oil supplies, our homes could be powered by clean, affordable renewable energy systems. Renewable energy systems harnessing American sun and wind power would legitimately increase our national security by reducing dependence on foreign oil, conserve our own dwindling fossil fuel reserves, protect our environment, promote regional self reliance and reduce foreign debt. Instead, the current administration and big business are attempting to build approximately 100 MORE coal fired power plants and approximately 40 MORE nuclear power plants, despite the economic, environmental and national security risks – which have been well documented.

Special interests have been relentless, efforts to open sensitive and protected areas to logging, mining, drilling, and development with no apparent regard for future generations. Environmental regulations are being rolled back, repealed and even ignored, just at a time these regulations were beginning to make progress. Short-term profits are now the top priority, not the conservation of our natural resources and heritage. Plant and animal species are going extinct at 100 times the natural rate of extinction.

The reliance on a short-sighted, unsustainable, "profits now" economic policy is wreaking havoc with America's economy and with our planet's environment. In the United States unemployment is rising, and the deficit is still growing at a staggering rate. Sustainable economic planning is based on being conservative with our environment and resources, harnessing free natural energies and by caring how our children, and theirs, will live in the future.

By becoming a S.E.E. Expo V.I.P. you’ll help to promote the viable, practical and proven alternatives that are available today, benefiting yourself, our region and our country. Please act now and ask a friend to do the same!
